Oxbow Books is thrilled to announce a new bookshop outlet in Berwick-upon-Tweed!
We are delighted to announce that you will now be able to browse a cross-section of books from Oxbow Books at a new outlet in Berwick-upon-Tweed, including new titles relating specifically to northern England and Scotland, and a selection of older discounted books. This new outlet will be called Oxbow North and can be found inside Berwick’s largest bookshop, Slightly Foxed Books, 31 Bridge Street, Berwick-upon-Tweed TD15 1ES, in a part of the town known for galleries, restaurants and independent shops.
Berwick has a long history, from being a border town that changed hands frequently between Scotland and England, to being one of the few towns in the British Isles completely enclosed by walls, built in the reign of Elizabeth I. It was then a military garrison and then a prosperous merchant town and port in the 18th century. Northumberland and the Scottish Borders are areas with strong historical and archaeological interest, close to centres of research in Edinburgh and Newcastle.
Many customers of Oxbow speak happily of exploring the former shop in Hythe Bridge Street, Oxford, and Oxbow North will offer our customers the chance to browse some of these books again, complementing our comprehensive online bookshop.
