Next month, we’ll be releasing our 100th issue of Oxbow Book News. To celebrate, we’re giving you the chance to win £100 of books!
THE HISTORY OF BOOK NEWS
Book News was started in 1983 to help people keep up-to-date on the latest archaeology releases, and to provide a quick and easy way to get hold of them. The first issue boasted details over sixty books. Our latest issue, Book News 99, had a huge selection of over five hundred! Though the size, breadth and appearance of Book News may have changed over the years, its aim remains the same – to help you find archaeology books that you’ll love.
SOME FUN FACTS
If ‘100 issues’ doesn’t impress you, then how’s this – end to end, all of our Book News catalogues from the past thirty-five years measure up t0 21.04 metres. Need some context…?
That’s TWELVE TIMES taller than Napoleon. Or, for the less historically minded – FOURTEEN TIMES taller than Danny Devito.
All of our Book News catalogues stacked on top of each other would reach TWO-FIFTHS of the way up the Leaning Tower of Pisa, or ONE-FIFTH of the way up the Great Pyramid at Giza.
We’re still working towards the dream of laying Book News catalogues end to end the length of Hadrian’s Wall, which is still a good 5,600 TIMES LONGER than our 99 Book News catalogues.
Book News 100 is just another step towards that lofty goal. And since it’s a milestone we’re excited to celebrate, we’re giving you the chance to win!
